Cobot Training Cell With PLC HMI and IIOT
Cobot Training Cell with PLC, HMI & IIoT
Hytech’s Cobot Training Cell provides a comprehensive hands-on platform for learning human-robot collaboration (HRC), advanced PLC-based control, and IIoT-enabled automation. The system features the Mitsubishi Assista collaborative robot and a Schunk/Robotiq assistive gripper, integrated with a Central Control Unit (PLC/HMI/IIoT) and four task-based modular workstations. This setup offers a complete, safe, and flexible environment to program, simulate, and execute industrial automation tasks.
Real Collaborative Robotics Learning
- The platform immerses trainees in environments where humans and collaborative robots work together safely and efficiently.
- Focuses on essential skills like safe human-robot interaction and intuitive programming through lead-through teaching and the provided Teach Pendant.
- The COBOT can be operated directly from a touch pad (e.g., Lenovo Yoga) equipped with a dynamic digital twin.
Multi-Application Training Tables
- The system provides a versatile, modular platform featuring four distinct experiment tables built on aluminum extrusions.
- Trainees practice a wide range of industrial tasks without needing separate equipment:
- Table 1: Collaborative Assembly: Operator works with the Cobot to complete an assembly task using automatic screw drivers.
- Table 2: POKAYOKE (Error Proofing): Program the Cobot to pick and place commanded jobs into the bin.
- Table 3: Writing & Conveyor Applications: Allows for Cobot-based writing applications and includes a conveyor for general applications.
- Table 4: Machine Tending & Palletizing: Practice picking jobs from the conveyor to carry out palletizing and machine tending operations.
PLC & IIoT Integration (Central Control Unit)
- The Central Control Unit is equipped with a high-performance PLC (Siemens S7 1200 / Mitsubishi FX5) and an IIoT-Based HMI.
- Trainees link PLCs with sensors, actuators, and the Cobot to build connected automation environments, learning about data acquisition, remote diagnostics, and network architectures.
- Connectivity: Utilizes IO-Link and Profinet protocols. Smart Light with IO-Link provides industrial process status visualization.
Digital Twin Simulation and Offline Programming
- Digital Twin Simulation creates a virtual replica of the physical system, enabling trainees to visualize, test, and optimize robot and PLC operations before execution.
- Offline Programming (OLP) Software (e.g., Mitsubishi Visual Toolbox) generates programs using the 3D environment, which can be directly executed on the training cell.
- The dynamic twin is displayed on a TV screen mounted on the cell, providing a complete 3D dynamic demonstration of the Cobot’s movement.
Industry-Relevant Skill Development
- Hardware: Utilizes industrial-grade components including the Mitsubishi Assista COBOT and Schunk/Robotiq grippers.
- Skill Focus: Develops expertise in programming, system integration, troubleshooting, data analysis, and workflow optimization—skills demanded in modern smart manufacturing.
